Welcome back!
We understand how easy it is to get stuck.
Especially when the task in front of you is important and possibly a bit intimidating.
One of the traps we can fall into is to start designing what we’re going to say, before we’ve thought deeply about the expectations and needs of our audience. This can result in a presentation which appears adequate on the surface, but doesn’t really engage the audience or provide value.
So before you start using the SpeakerMapĀ® to organise your content, it’s useful to step back and consider the “big picture” of your presentation.
This should be a relatively easy task that gets you into action and takes you towards your goal of designing an engaging presentation.
That’s what this assignment is about.
Check out the four questions below. If you can write down the answers to these questions, you’re ready to start the presentation design process. We’ve given you example answers based on the Kiva presentation. As you can see, you don’t need a complex or long answer.
If you are struggling to answer these questions, it may help if you talk to:
- the person who asked you to present
- someone from the audience – or who knows the audience
- someone who knows your area of expertise
- us!Ā We may be able to ask you further questions that will uncover what you need to know. (for registered Nail that Presentation participants).
Once you submit your answer to these questions you’ll be ready for the next step: identifying The Zone of Engagement.
